ABOUT THE ARTIST

Barry Dominick is a passionate painter who strives to translate the ephemeral beauty of the landscape onto his canvases, working both en plein air (outdoors on location) and within the focused environment of his Dallas home studio. More than mere representation, his paintings capture the very atmosphere and prevailing mood of each scene. Inspired by the dynamic interplay of light and shadow, Barry's brushstrokes evoke a palpable sense of immediacy and spontaneity, inviting viewers to experience the world as he sees it.

Born and raised amidst the captivating natural landscapes of rural northwest Louisiana – where winding bayous meet the flow of the Red River, and towering pines stand sentinel over fertile farmland – Barry's artistic inclinations took root early in life. While his initial creative explorations led him to photography, his artistic journey later blossomed into a deep connection with oil painting, embracing both the challenges and rewards of painting en plein air and the focused exploration possible in his studio.

In a pivotal move in 2024, Barry embraced his lifelong passion for art full-time, retiring early from a distinguished forty-year career in the financial services industry. Now based in Dallas, he dedicates himself fully to his artistic pursuits as a self-taught painter, finding inspiration both in the world around him and within the dedicated space of his studio. Barry holds a BBA in Finance from the University of Texas at Arlington.
